Rainfall-Runoff Modelling Using HEC-HMS Model, Remote Sensing and GIS in Middle Gujarat, India

Hydrological modeling is a widely used approach for estimating the hydrological response of basin to precipitation. Floods are among most catastrophic natural disasters in small urban watersheds, inflicting loss life, massive property destruction, and severe danger economy. As result, appropriate can be useful tool preventing mitigating such flood hazards. Despite this, flash prediction remains one challenges ungauged basins due lack runoff observations. This study aims calibrate validate rainfall-runoff transformation model Hathmati river sub watershed Sabarmati River using HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Engineering Centre Hydrology Modeling System). For rate, SCS Curve Number method was selected while Clark Unit Hydrograph unit hydrograph transform method. The calibrated verified two events from 2006 2007 year calibration validation efficiency were both methods Nash-Sutcliffe (NSE), coefficient determination (R2), Percent Bias (PBIAS) found satisfactory with acceptable value NSE between 0.869 0.914, R2 0.901 0.947 PBIAS 9.76 14.8. it observed that shows very good correlation simulated flow flow. forecast aid mitigation efforts lessen their effects associated costs. Additionally, findings this serve as guidelines future assessments risk area.
